And a decent album by the Foo’s is better than 90% of the shit out there today.
I was really pumped by Wasting Light. I remember seeing some lyrics back in the fall, when Dave posted them on his twitter.
“You got away from me, now get away from me”. That’s an awesome lyric, especially if you can empathize with it.
I knew right away that this new record will be painfully beautiful.
And I was right.
What sets it mostly apart from One by One, In Your Honor and Echoes is that it lacks a stand-out song. Those albums all had an amazing great fucking lead single that out shined the rest of the songs.
While WASTING LIGHT has no The Pretender or Best Of You, it compensates with consistency and pure raw fucking energy.
Wasting Light is FOO FIGTHERS and THE COLOUR AND THE SHAPE morphed together + the straight-in-your-face lyrics of IN YOUR HONOR.
It’s superb and therapeutic. I’m sure it exorcised some demons inside Dave. It’s medicine for me, I’ll give you that.
It’s a stellar album.
And don’t get me started on the closing track, Walk. What a great fucking anthem!
It give me the goosebumps.
“I never wanna die!”
Well, you sure won’t. Not with this album. |

3 DOORS DOWN - TIME OF MY LIFE - 3/5
Asteptarile erau ridicate si baietii nu prea au cine stie ce componente pe acest album. Insa la o a doua ascultare lucrurile incep sa capete contur.
CAGE THE ELEPHANT - THANK YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY - 4/5
Una dintre singurele trupe tnere care exista azi si care merita sa fie ascultate.
COLDPLAY - MYLO XYLOTO 2/5
O mizerie fara margini, mai ales cand vine dupa un Viva la Vida.
LOU REED & METALLICA - LULU - 1/5
St. Anger incepe sa sune din ce in ce mai bine. Riff-uri bune aruncate pe o prostie monumentala.
SCREAMING TREES - LAST WORDS - 4/5
Multe piese de calitate pe acest ultim album. Am ramas surprins intr-un mod placut.
THURSTON MOORE - DEMOLISHED THOUGHTS - 4/5
Un Sonic Youth dezbracat de chitari scrasnitoare si noise-rock. A ramas in urma un album sincer, acustic si pe alocuri bantuitor. In cel mai bun sens al cuvantului.
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS - I'M WITH YOU - 5/5
Cu Flea si Anthony din nou la carma trupei am primit un album foarte sexual si sincer. Superb. Armoniile lui Josh? <3
