* "It’s like I’m in the 4th dimension and somebody’s asking me to describe it and that’s what the 4th dimension is about. There’s no words,no symbols, no images it’s all pure real energy and vibrations."

* "To make the album without the experience in my life would be impossible. It?s only because I?ve gone so deep inside myself and faced so many things that by nature I should be scared of. You know, being in a room and sitting there with a ghost, hearing their voice in your head and seeing them as clearly as I?m seeing you right now."

* "Most of my supernatural experiences are in the past. It’s a world I don’t really delve into that much anymore. But I believe that there are things we don’t see with our eyes that are making every moment what it is. And every person is made up of a bunch of people. And everybody who’s alive is everybody who died. I just think it’s all one big energy working together. I see the world as being very balanced-completely, perfectly balanced."

* "To me music is the centre of the universe and the voice of the spirits and the voice of God and the voice of all the people who have lived and died…At least the ones I’m connected to."

* "1. Artistic expression, sex, and truth are the only things that really matter.
2.Music is the face of God.
3. The best service you can do for mankind is mind your own business
4. Don’t ever trust a man who says ‘I am going to kill you in the name of God’ . "

* "All I know is that the six months when I recorded this music was the most productive time of my life, and I?ll always remember it as the first time in my life that I ever felt like I was one with my dreams."

* "Once I write the song I believe that it creates a new atmosphere in a place called the fifth dimension where it creates new life and energy and it makes things better and it makes new places to live for the spirits who frequent these places."

* "There’s a big place I’m connected to when I write. As long as I have the feeling inside me that I’m connected to this huge, peaceful, beautiful place, no matter what I write, if it’s in conjunction with that place, it’s always gonna have meaning. It’s not really necessary to truly understand what I write, as long as I’ve got that feeling behind me."

* "Music isn’t the Olympics."

*"The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird."

* "I can also be very happy in this life, but it’s usually happiness that I get from other lives I’ve lived and other dimensions. This life is hardly important to me. It’s very small compared to the importance that I think the fourth and fifth dimension have. Those places are much more real to me, like when you have a dream and it’s more real to you than real life. Compared to where I’ll be going, this life seems like a dream that just feels like a dream."

* "I used to always see things in the outside world as being ‘the enemies of an artist’. I don’t see it that way anymore. To me, everything an artist needs is inside of himself, and it really doesn’t matter what’s going on in the world. Nothing else matters. You don’t need to have things perfect, you don’t need to have a lot of money or a beautiful girl. If your job in life is to create, you can find inside yourself what you need to make beautiful art and beautiful music. But you might have to clean yourself out, spiritually or physically. You gotta constantly purify yourself, living in the city, around human beings. There might be people close to you who affect you inside yourself in such a corrupt way that it screws with your ability to do what you do. But if you make sure that the people who are close you are good people who are there for you and love you, you can confecționate your temple everywhere you go."

* "I think my songs exist before I write them, in a place called the fourth dimension where sounds and shapes and colours are the land. They?re the air and the grass and the wood and they?re all these feelings. When a collection of those feelings is put into my head, because I?m tuned into that place, I have the skill technically to turn it into a song."

* "Music is not something that you are in control of. It comes from somewhere else. If you?re that middleman between the cosmos and the real world on Earth that hte music comes through, you are very lucky. When you record music, it?s not your job to try to control anything. It?s more about being in the right place and flowing with the energies that are in the air around you and with the people that you are making the music with. The second that someone thinks music comes from themselves, and that they are the ones responsible for it, is when they go off track. The most important thing you could ralize is that you are the least important part of the whole process. Music is going to be made whether any one artist is here or not. If John Lennon or Jimi Hendrix had disappeared, music still would have gone on, changed, grown, and been the beautiful thing that it is. You take away the music, all you have are the individuals, and they don?t mean anything. The individual is nothing ? it?s the music that?s in the air all the time that?s important, and you have to be humble in the face of that."

* "What I have to say to an inhabitant of the Earth in one hundred years is similar to what I have to say to the present inhabitants of Earth. To be creative."

"I write lyrics, I play the guitar, if the rest of the band had to do my schedule, they would be dead"

"When I was 22, my head was emptied. Maybe it was left only some sensitivity. I felt really empty, do you get me? Now my head is still empty, but I'm way happier than before. I write much more music and I'm more concentrated."

"Sex often distracts me from my job."

"When I was 27 I needed to hear that there was a reason to be alive, now I don't need to be convinced anymore. I no longer hear the voices because I'm doing what they want."

"I think the mainstream sucks."

"...And people such as Eminem ... you know for while Flea's daughter was crazy about Eminem until at one stage she said that he's a mean guy. I didn't oppose when she liked him, I even bought her his album, but I was really happy for her when she found out herself. I don't want her to go out with guys like Eminem, I want her to meet a great guy with charm and so on... (laughs). If Eminem is her idea of a excelent guy, well, then I don't know. (laughs)."

"When I am not busy with the band, I love to sit on the couch and watch old Star Trek episodes or movies from the early 40's."

"My favorite singer is Ian Curtis from Joy Division, who is not really an accomplished singer."

"The point is, I´m weird, but I never felt weird."

“I need people to call me, I never remember to call anyone – otherwise I’ll just sit in my house and listen to music all day.”

"Everybody I ever met I would tell them, 'The Chili Peppers' are my favorite band, I love them."

"The Valley is the worst fuckin place on the planet....Nothing but malls. Shopping is God. But I am glad I grew up there because I just locked myself in my room and played guitar".

"When people say that they can't play with their heart....
You know, it just makes me want to puke."

"Chad is the meanest. He'll push fans around and yell at them just to make me laugh."

"I once sold Anthony's pubic hairs on ebay but we weren't as popular then so no one bought it"

"It feels kind of like we've cared for these songs like they were our children and these are the ones that are grown up enough to go out into the world."

"Making art is about accepting what’s going on around you and turning it into something beautiful, no matter what it is. During this record we had the catastrophe at the Empire State Building and we just kept on writing." - despre albumul By the Way si 9/11.. Empire State Bulding? C'mon!!

* When you're talking to a fan, you're talking to somebody who's not talking to you. They're talking to a photograph, they're talking to their image of you, they're talking to a walking poster. And if you make the mistake of thinking, that they're talking to you... When they tell you that you're a genius, or that you're so fucking cool... Or whatever their fucking image is of you... Then if you believe it... Then you, the real human being dies. - 1997 on "The Blairing Out with Eric Blair Show"

* I love the spirits that are inside me, i don't give a fuck about this body" (london 2001).

* If it wasn't for Anthony Kiedis, i wouldn't have written any of these songs for the really last two years"(New York 2001).

* I don't care if what you think i am is really what i am. What you think i am is way more important than what i really am.(london 2001)

* My songs i write them like i play them for one person and then when i see so many people going out to it, i feel so happy. You know how big you all are, everyone of you is like an hundred spirits to me.(london 2001).

* Somebody who spends their days absorbed in this music that i've been making with the chili peppers and in my solo music that i make, i know that's having a good impact on them. Like i know it's coming from a completly healthy place. I know the spirits that helped me do it are wonderful parts of the universe(...)And i just know that's healthy for people(OTM 2000).

* I never had to get a job or anything 'cause i ended up joining the chili peppers like the day my dad told me he wouldn't give me anymore money(BTM 1999).

* William Burroughs always talks about the world is nothing but allies and ennemies. And it's important to understand what things around you are the ennemies and a lot of the time your worst ennemy is your ego"(funky monks 1991).

* Michael Stipe, i met him also as a person, and i don't give a fuck about him as a person because he seems to be totally full of himself. But my image of him is beautiful and i love him you know, not the human being, my image of him"(london 2001).

* Lately, i just haven't been having sex 'cause i just don't enjoy it. I just stopped enjoying sex at one point so right now, i just concentrate on writing music for the album"(1991, a few weeks before the recording of bssm).

* You see, one time i used to have this girlfriend named Amanda and we were always breaking up and she was crazy, she was just completely nuts. And this girl is so crazy that one time she was on her period and we were playing strip card game, we were stripping, me and her and her friend and my friend Bill. We were all completely naked and then the loosing team had to eat/lick one part of the winning team body, that they said, and then she took her bloody tampon from the girl who was on the winning team, completely bloody, she had to lick the tampon. Not only did she lick a little bit of the tampon but she put it in her mouth and sucked it like if it was a cock. A really bloody brown tampon. It was awfull. She's a nuts"(...)"You ask how i deal with all the girls who want to fuck me. These are the types of girls that keep showing up so that's why i don't have sex anymore, 'cause i don't have the energy to deal with these kinds of situations anymore because i want to deal with playing music.(vpro 1991).

* And for me the only way to live life is to grab the bull by the horns and call up recording studios and set dates to go in recording studios. To try and accomplish something.

* And if a few other people come along who discover my music because they in some normal way come across my music, cool.

* And this whole period of time of gradually working at being a better guitar player and songwriter have gradually led me to the point where I feel I'm doing a clearer representation of the thing that I've been feeling inside me since I was four years old.

* Anybody who's a guitar player that's spent that time with another guitar player, there's nothing better than that.

* As far as my solo record, I don't want a gold record or anything, I'm happy to be small and to have the people appreciate the music who really like me for being me.

* But for me if I'm gonna read about something I'd rather read a pamphlet or the instructions to a synthesizer than a book on Buddhism.

* But I have been avoiding talking about what I'm doing now because it's frustrating for people to hear about things that aren't available yet.

* But I think I know just as many creative people who've never taken drugs in their life as I do who have taken a lot of drugs.

* Everything's very perfectly balanced; for all the horrible things in the world there's lots of good things.

* For me it's important to be in balance. To not let fear get in the way of things, to not worry so much about protecting yourself all the time.

* For me my friendship with Omar Rodriguez from Mars Volta that friendship really means a lot to me because he's another creative person who works as hard as I do.

* I don't want to be on the radio. I don't want to be on Mtv.

* I feel like I'd like to continue putting out records and start putting them out more rapidly than I have until now and for me if I can keep selling the records to the fans that already like me that's fine.

* I find that the best way to do things is to constantly move forward and to never doubt anything and keep moving forward, if you make a mistake say you made a mistake.

* I just feel like the songs that come out are the songs that come.

* I think the feelings in my music were suggested to me before I even had the ability to play music.

* I think the mainstream sucks

* I think you get people taking things to excess in all fields, doctors, lawyers - -it happens to all kinds of people.

* I try to put the same spirit into that that I put into any other music endeavor I'm involved in.

* I would say a lot of the emotion in what I do is a sort of a thankfulness for those energies being around, because there's been points in my life when they weren't around, and it's a real sort of miserable existence.

* I write songs because I have to write them, and if I didn't I'd be doing some other kind of music that didn't require a song.

* I'm going in that direction rather than the 80's synth-pop direction where it's more obvious you're hearing a synthesizer.

* I'm going through a phase where I'm really accomplishing a lot of things and in that is everything I've learned.

* I'm not interested in forcing my music on people, and that's what the whole music industry nowadays is based on is forcing stations to play it, forcing people to listen to it.

* In music you have people exposing this very vulnerable part of themselves, and you also have the lifestyle is so fast that oftentimes people search for whatever the easiest way to feel relaxed in the midst of all of it, or the easiest way to have energy.

* In the Chili Peppers I'm a part of that world in a pretty big world and that's just the way it is.

* It means basically I'm using the synthesizer more to change the sounds of other things rather than to use it as the source of the sound.

* My music, my whole approach to the synthesizer has completely changed now.

* Right now my taste is going more for things that are organic where the people are using all the sonic possibilities in interesting ways.

* So when I feel the spirit upon me it's something I don't take it for granted, and I don't think I'm solely responsible for these things.

* Something like trying to protect yourself all the time, things like trying to outwit fate. Those things can be the worst thing you can do for yourself.

* The main thing experience has taught me is that one has to sort of hone their relationship to time, you know.

* Yeah, I really like being alive. But I definitely don't have any intentions as an artist.

* You just never know when somebody's gonna die. It could happen at any ocazie so you've got to really treat everybody that way. Just really let everybody know how you feel about them.

* I'm very connected to these 3 people (AK, flea, chad) because i feel like i was born to play music with them.

* I just deteriorated so much that i was ready to die and all i can remember is i wanted a gun bad so i could shoot myself, you know, my heart had broken completly.

* I'm not really a star-oriented kind of guy.

* I don't see any value in sitcoms on any level for anybody. I just think they should be banned.

Ce aiurea. Prin '91 credea ca sitcomurile trebuie interzise, iar acum declara ca serialul lui favorit e "Extras" (un sitcom). Gusturile omului se mai schimba......(mai ales cand e vorba de John)

Hei ati vazut citatele astea doua :
Shopping is God
Music is the face of God

Excerpts from “Letters to the Fans” 1990

Dear people who care enough about what we do to write a letter, I feel like a terrible, inconsiderate rock star writing a generic letter like this to everyone who has written to us. But at the same time, for us to write an individual response to everyone would be a physical impossibility. We've been on tour for the last nine months which makes it hard to even speak a coherent sentence. Also I've never written a letter to anyone my whole life. Sometimes if a person who has written an interesting letter leaves their phone number call them. But most of you don't leave your numbers (and probably for good reason). I would like to take this opportunity to write a few aphorisms of mine just so you don't feel like this letter was written by someone we hire.

1. Artistic expression, sex, and truth are the only things that really matter.

2. Music is the face of God.

3. The best service you can do for mankind is mind your own biznis

4. Don't ever trust a man who says "I am going to kill you in the name of God."

5. Buy an Eric Dolphy record.

Love, John Frusciante (Froo-shon-tay)

Excerpts from “Letters to the Fans” 1991

Hello, We are going to Hawaii tomorrow to play a couple of shows, breathe underwater, and jump off cliffs into clean water. About a week after we get back we are going into a mansion to record our record which means that by the time you're reading this, we will be in the middle of the recording.

Studios can feel like a plastic toilet seat sometimes so, by doing our record in a house we will capture a real warm feeling and lots of laughter. We have so many new songs and I am so happy that Anthony, Flea, Chad and myself have grabbed the music by its invisible tail in the air where it was a bunch of bodies of cosmic dust and turned it into a bunch of songs that will make many people happy for as long as this planet manages to stay around. We have written so many different styles of stuff and it is all beautiful, powerful, magical, soulful, etc. to infinity. I personally have been painting just about every day and it cleanses my soul and helps me do the only thing I want which is to stay as creative as possible in as many ways as possible. If there is anyone reading this who doesn't already play music or write stories, or write poetry or painted or draw or gamble or anything you should go to the art store, buy some water colours and paper and throw paint on the paper, and see what happens. Don't try to be good; just do it for fun and you will realize once again that you are alive and wide awake. Take advantage of it!

Love John Frusciante

"I bought a Cadillac for $1500 when I was 19 because of the size of the ashtray. It had a giant ashtray and me and my friends thought that was really cool. On my one attempt at driving I nearly hit a jogger, so that’s why I don’t drive anymore."

"John: Rock stars are really good people to look up to.
Anthony: That may seem like a strange thing to say, but . . .
John: It is?! Who else you going to look up to? The President?!?"

"DMG: Sometimes people – even people that are really passionate about music – grow disillusioned with it, and say something like, “This is what I cared so much about…these little notes?” Have you ever had a period where you weren’t interested in music and felt sort of removed from it?
JF: [yelling] That’s bullshit! I don’t think that music is just little notes. Music is energy, and energy is the single most important form of it in the world. Without energy, there is no life. The only difference between a dead person and a live person is the energy, the electricity flowing inside their system, and that’s what makes music. You can’t make a good record with people who have no life inside them and people who are totally bored just playing the notes. Yeah, the Velvet Underground could have taught four fucking businessmen who knew how to play instruments their songs, and they would have played the same fucking notes, but would it have been the same music? Fuck, no. It would have been crap. Music is what it is because of the energy."

"When I smile at the audience, I'm not smiling because I was told that you're supposed to smile to the audience. I smile because they're all smiling at me, and it's a great feeling to see all these happy people out there, and it makes me happy to see them happy..."

"Pagers are my life. I try to get them into our music as much as possible."

"Let's give us strength to show that...uh... this people tonight that we.. love them, and ..uh..show them that we care about... ourselves."

"John: "What would you do when there was a nuclear war going on?"
Ant: "Fuck everything that moves. You?"
John: "Sit very still...""

"Sometimes it takes just living your life a certain way to be able to open yourself to the rhythm of the cosmos."

"...two years ago my two friends invited me in the band and let me thinking about music all the time and........oh my THREE friends, sorry Chad!!!"

"By the way, I’m not saying my music comes from the spirits and yours doesn’t; all the crap music everywhere in the world, it all comes from spirits. Crappy music comes from crappy spirits."

"I don't need to take drugs. I feel so much more high all the time right now because of the type of momentum that a person can get going when you really dedicate yourself to something that you really love. I don't even consider doing them, they're completely silly. Between my dedication to trying to constantly be a better musician and eating my health foods and doing yoga, I feel so much more high than I did for the last few years of doing drugs."

"It feels kind of like we've cared for these songs like they were our children and these are the ones that are grown up enough to go out into the world."

"That's what I spend most of my time doing, breathing a lot. I like air ."

"I find that the best way to do things is to constantly move forward and to never doubt anything and keep moving forward, if you make a mistake say you made a mistake. "

I cried, I don’t know why….I don’t like his music or anything….you know it’s awful about his baby I just……I don’t want to talk about that…..I just don’t think he has very many guts……I just don’t see why he wouldn’t want to see his daughter grow up…you know…that he wouldn’t be excited enough about that to not think of himself……people just start thinking of themselves too much. I don’t think it’s so much that they become conscious of the world of video and the world of this and that and a world of fame, they just think of themselves and no matter who you are and whether you’re a rock star or a garbage man, if you’re thinking of yourself all the time you’re not gonna be very good at what you do. With a baby you can tell them funny jokes when they’re two and they’ll love it, you can teach them about how everyone’s an idiot and they’ll love it…..but you know…..it doesn’t occur to a lot of people how intense that is…..how beautiful it is.

(Despre Kurt Cobain)

(Years later, the clean John, turned in something like a big Nirvana fan, listening a lot to In Utero and playing Nirvana covers in his shows)
